Ingredients

  • 6 D’Italiano® Brizzolio Soft Rolls
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tbsp. paprika
  • 1 tsp. fresh ground pepper
  • 3 ½ pounds pork shoulder
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 1 cup chili sauce
  • 1 6oz can pineapple juice
  • 1 medium onion - chopped
  • 1 whole pineapple - sliced
  • 1 tbsp. olive oil
  • BBQ sauce, for serving

How to make

  • 1 Combine salt, paprika and pepper, and then coat the pork shoulder with the rub mixture.
  • 2 In another bowl, whisk together chicken broth, brown sugar, soy sauce, chili sauce and pineapple juice.
  • 3 Put the chopped onions and carrots in a 5-quart slow cooker. Place the pork on top of the carrots and onions and pour half of the pineapple juice mixture over pork. Reserve remainder. Slow cook on low for 7 to 8 hours. When cooked, shred with forks.
  • 4 Brush slices of pineapple with oil & a light dusting of salt - grill on barbecue until grill marks emerge.
  • 5 Toast D’Italiano® Brizzolio Soft Roll, top with shredded pork, grilled pineapple & a drizzle of BBQ sauce.
  • 6 Serve & enjoy.
